Girl guides raise funds for Children in Need with a litter pick event

The Cambridgeshire Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers took to the streets of Ely to participate in a sponsored litter pick event, raising funds for Children in Need. Over 100 Girlguiding UK members volunteered their time to pick up litter throughout the city, with equipment provided by the Ely Litter Pickers group.

Speaking about the event, Alexa Minett, Guide leader, expressed her pride in the group's hard work, stating that it showed their dedication to the community. "Guiding is all about helping others and doing your best," said Ms. Minett. "Our members take a lot of pride in their community and want to help others."

The litter pick started at Ely Cathedral and covered a wide area of the city, with items such as socks, old glasses, packets, and bottles being picked up during the event. Members of the public were delighted to see the Girlguides out and about and gave them many positive messages.

Simon Jacobs, CMO of LitterLotto, praised the Girlguides' initiative, saying, "It's fantastic to see young people taking action in their communities and making a difference. We believe that everyone can make a positive impact, and the Girlguides are a shining example of this. We hope that events like these will inspire others to get involved and help keep our streets and cities clean."

The litter pick event was a success, raising funds for Children in Need and inspiring the younger generation to take an active role in caring for their environment. Well done, Girlguides!
